A small group of girls (under 11’s and 13’s) have been training on a Tuesday night at Court Herbert under the guidance of Sian Moore (Michael Dyer) and this coming Tuesday (29th) they’ll be playing conditioned games against similar groups from Bridgend and Swansea. The session starts at 5.30pm so girls are asked to arrive at 5.15pm.

More girls are required and anyone interested can turn up on the night or at future training sessions. At present all training sessions are scheduled on Tuesday evenings (5.30pm -6.30pm) at Court Herbert, Neath Sports Centre.

Tonight (Tuesday 22nd) next season’s under 14 group start training at Court Herbert (Neath Sports Centre). Tonights session starts at 6.30pm and will finish by 8pm.

Tomorrow (Wednesday 23rd) next season’s groups at under under 12’s and 13’s start training at Court Herbert (Neath Sports Centre) at 5.30pm with the session finishing at 7pm.

The under 16 group also train on Wednesday 23rd at Court Herbert starting at 6.30pm and finishing at 8pm.

I am in the process of negotiating training facilities at Pontardawe Leisure Centre, Court Herbert and Western Avenue in order to arrange training sessions for players in the Swansea Valley, Neath and Aberavon schools area during the holiday period. These sessions will be for boys/girls who are in years 5 and 6 next season and will be interested in playing for their respective schools district team.

Dates and times I have in mind are Thursday 22nd/29th July and 5th/12th August at Pontardawe from 10am to 12noon (Swansea Valley schools).

Thursday 22nd/29th July and 5th/12th August at Court Herbert from 1pm to 3pm (Neath schools). 

And Friday 23rd/30th July and 6th/13th August at Western Avenue from 10am to 12noon (Aberavon schools).

Summer training for the under 12’s and 13 squads starts at Court Herbert on Wednesday 23rd June. Both squads need to arrive for a 5.30pm start and 7pm finish. All Wales Ambulance Service based in Ystradgynlias have now started to do First Aid Training for clubs wether it be manual handling for bar staff and groundsmen through to rugby contact injuries, these courses can be held at your own club base or at their own training rooms in Ystradgynlias, if you are intrested in any of these courses then please contact Wayne Williams Training Manager , wayne@awas.co.uk.

Please be aware of a meeting to be held at Llandarcy Academy Of Sport on Monday 7th June at 6pm for those unsuccessful in selection for the Under 16’s player identification process during June and July.

A general feed back and information on ‘what next’ will be presented. 

The region’s development officers will be in attendance to emphasise the importance of District Rugby in the age grade player identification process within the region.
