The players from Swansea Valley, Neath and Aberavon Dewar Shield teams who have been training with the pre-Ospreys under 16’s set up are to attend training on Monday, February 1st at Llandarcy Academy for Sport. Unfortunately only a few selected under 14 players are going to be allowed to attend these sessions, so speak with your district coaches to check if you are one of them. Obviously the under 14 player will get a second bite of the cherry next season so don’t be overly disappointed if you miss out at this stage.

The forwards are expected to arrive at Llandarcy Academy for Sport at 4pm and will then be guided to the Ospreys weight training gymnasium (10 minute walk), the session is due to finish at around 5pm. The backs are expected to arrive at the same venue at 5pm and a similar session will follow. All players are requested to bring a pen/pencil and booklet in order to record the session. Bring suitable clothing for a weight training session and clean footwear.

The squad will be given a timetable for the further scheduled training sessions that will be taking place, however, be aware of the following dates: 15th/22nd February, 8th/15th/29th March and 12th/26th April. On some of these evenings parents will be expected to attend some of the indoor lectures that will be delivered.

The under 12’s and 13’s are at Court Herbert for a 5.30 till 7pm session (as always, boots and trainers).

The under 14’s are attending the Early Learning Centre at Llandarcy Academy for Sport with their colleagues from Bridgend and Swansea. Session starts at 6pm sharp and finishes at 8pm.

The under 14’s battled hard and showed great character early on but once Pontypridd got their noses in front (and Afan Nedd failed to take advantage of two clear scoring opportunities) they went on to win comfortably. The under 13’s game was a stalemate in which neither side managed to score a point. Hopefully the result shows that the side are making good progress as they lost by a big score against the same opponents last season. However, the team of the night award musty go to the under 12’s for their convincing 29 points to nil victory.

As an association we are also extremely grateful to our clubs and in particular Abercrave, Banwen and Ystradgynlais for allowing us to use their facilities to stage these games at a time when fixtures are being postponed because of ground conditions.

The under 13 district game has been switched to BANWEN RFC from Glynneath; same arrangements meet at 6pm for a 7pm kick off. Please spread the word and keep checking the website in case of inclement weather.
