Hi Guys,

Just  a quick note to say hi.

I have recently taken over the role of managing (Water Boy) at Skewen U15s we are looking for fixtures this season, we played very few games last year due to loss of players, we managed to keep a small core of players together during the season. I really didn’t think we were going to have enough boys to get a team together again this year, but we had 18 boys turn up for training Tuesday eve. They are nagging for games.

With 5 or 6 u 14 players included in our team, we are an enthusiastic side but lack match experience.

Coaches Ian Rowlands and Terry Cooksley have selected the following 20 players for the fixture with Swansea. They have also changed training back to Friday evening 6pm at Aberavon Green Stars for the selected squad; however, the whole squad will train the following Friday 3rd October with a 6pm start again at Aberavon Green Stars.

Coaches Steffan Jones and Ceri Wyatt have selected the following 20 players to play against Swansea on Sunday 28th September. This Friday 26th September only these 20 players will train at 5pm at the Afan Lido. The following Friday 3rd October all squad members will train at the Afan Lido again at 5pm.

Coaches Andrew Thomas and Adrian Locke have selected the following 20 players for the forthcoming fixture with Swansea. Only these 20 players will train on Friday night at the Afan Lido, 5pm start. The rest of the squad will return to training on Friday 3rd October again at 5pm at the Afan Lido.

The following are the notes that have been put together to clarify the laws for the ospreys Cup Competition.

All Ospreys Cup Games will be played under WRU U19 pathway rules with the exception of the following variations that will be trialled at U12, U13 and U14.

Under 12
Scrummage
8 man scrum can now push a maximum of 0.5 metres. Both hookers can contest possession by striking for the ball. NO deliberate wheeling of scrum permitted. Scrum must stay straight.  No. 8 cannot pick up.  Engagement sequence – Crouch, touch pause engage. But no hit allowed on engagement

Scrum wheels- If scrum wheels more than 45, scrum is reset, if pushed more than 0.5 mtrs, free kick awarded.

Under 13

All other  fixtures will revert to normal WRU Pathway rules for season 2008-2009.

After a difficult selection meeting the management settled on a squad of 37 players. Those who will be disappointed by the selection will need to get over that diappointment and show their capabilities in future club and school games that will be observed. There is an open door policy and players who demonstrate that they are good enough can be added to the squad at any time.

Those who have been selected are asked to attend training at the Llandarcy Academy of Sport on Friday 19th September (5pm till 6.30pm). Future sessions will be held at the Afan Lido on a Friday evening between 5 and 6pm and the first game takes place on Sunday 28th Septembetr with a 10.30am kick off against Swansea, at Aberavon Gereen Stars.
