A PRE MEETING will be held before the AGM for clubs to have an answer and question session with Dai Arthur on the NEW PATHWAY RULES  that have been released by the WRU, this meeting will start  at 6pm in the upstairs room of Neath RFC before the start of the AGM at 6.30pm, could all clubs please try to attend as this will clear up any confusion in the law changes for the forth coming season.

Summer Holiday Under 11 Rugby Skills Sessions 

I will be organising a rugby skills development programme during the school holidays for children (boys and girls) throughout Neath and Port Talbot. The sessions are free of charge and are open to anyone in the present year 4 and 5; they will also act as development for players who will be hoping to get involved with the district schools set up that will start in September. All sessions will be covered by qualified coaches who have all received CRB clearance.

Swansea Valley Schools sessions take place at Pontardawe Leisure Centre (Playing Fields behind the centre) on Thursdays 22^nd/29^th July and 5^th/12^th August starting at 10am and finishing at 12 noon.

Neath Schools sessions take place at Neath Sports Centre (Court Herbert Playing Fields) on Thursdays 22^nd/29^th July and 5^th/12^th August starting at 1pm and finishing at 3pm. 

Aberavon Schools sessions take place at Western Avenue (Playing Fields opposite Sandfields Comprehensive School) on Friday 23^rd/30^th July and 6^th/13^th August starting at 10am and finishing at 12 noon. 

All players are advised to wear suitable clothing for playing outdoors and need to bring a drink in order to rehydrate during the session. It is a four week programme starting off with non contact rugby skills and then developing contact in the 3^rd and 4^th sessions. A small group of girls (under 11’s and 13’s) have been training on a Tuesday night at Court Herbert under the guidance of Sian Moore (Michael Dyer) and this coming Tuesday (29th) they’ll be playing conditioned games against similar groups from Bridgend and Swansea. The session starts at 5.30pm so girls are asked to arrive at 5.15pm.

More girls are required and anyone interested can turn up on the night or at future training sessions. At present all training sessions are scheduled on Tuesday evenings (5.30pm -6.30pm) at Court Herbert, Neath Sports Centre.

I am in the process of negotiating training facilities at Pontardawe Leisure Centre, Court Herbert and Western Avenue in order to arrange training sessions for players in the Swansea Valley, Neath and Aberavon schools area during the holiday period. These sessions will be for boys/girls who are in years 5 and 6 next season and will be interested in playing for their respective schools district team.

Dates and times I have in mind are Thursday 22nd/29th July and 5th/12th August at Pontardawe from 10am to 12noon (Swansea Valley schools).

And Friday 23rd/30th July and 6th/13th August at Western Avenue from 10am to 12noon (Aberavon schools).

All Wales Ambulance Service based in Ystradgynlias have now started to do First Aid Training for clubs wether it be manual handling for bar staff and groundsmen through to rugby contact injuries, these courses can be held at your own club base or at their own training rooms in Ystradgynlias, if you are intrested in any of these courses then please contact Wayne Williams Training Manager , wayne@awas.co.uk.

Starting on Tuesday June 1st at Court Herbert (Neath Sports Centre) WRU Coach Sian Moore will be taking rugby development sessions for girls in the area. The development centre which will start at 5.30pm and finish by 6.30pm will be for girls in year 3 and 4 (under 9’s) and for girls in year 5 and 6 (under 11’s). Sessions will take place every Tuesday throughout June/July/August with the last Tuesday in the month scheduled for development games with Bridgend and Swansea (who will be organising similar programmes). Please spread the word amongst anyone who may be interested and if you require further information conatct David Arthur on 07740612791.

Starting on Tuesday June 8th at Court Herbert (Neath Sports Centre) the Ospreys Girls will be training under the watchful eye of WRU Level 3 Coach Ceri Wyatt, where he will be asisted by a number of experienced developmental coaches. Next season the Ospreys will have girls teams at under 15 (year 7-9 at present) and under 18 (year10-12 at present) and these sesions are open to anyone of the right age who may wish to give rugby a try. Ceri’s team of coaches will be ensuring that experienced and novice alike will receive a challenging and enjoyable experience at their hands. These sessions will continue throughout June with further information being provided at a later date. The last meeting of the season will take place on Monday 10th of May at Neath RFC. This meeting is to make every club aware of cup rule changes and any other rules that need amending for the forth coming season. Also it is your last chance to get affiliation and squad sheets for next season and they need to be returned by no later than August 30th or you  will not be playing in the district cup competition next season.

The last meeting of the season will be held on May 10th in Neath RFC at 6.30pm

This meeting will be your chance to go through next seaons cup rules and have any rules changed or altered to make the running of the cup more simpler and as you the clubs want it.

The current rules are here to download . if you want to make proposals for changes to any of the rules can you please email them to andrew or chris at least 7 days before the meeting, to allow us to prepare the proposals.

Also it will be your last chance to get the registration form ready to register your team and collect the affiliation forms ready for the August 30th registration and cup entry deadline. No registrationand squad  sheets back by Aug 30 then you will not be entered into the cup.
